Job summary

Shady Grove Medical Center, part of Adventist HealthCare, seeks an experienced Assistant Nurse Manager for Pre-Op/PACU. The role drives daily operations, supports department goals, and ensures safe, patient-centered care across perioperative services.

The position requires nursing leadership, Maryland licensure, and BLS certification, with preferred BSN and supervisory experience. Work is full-time with weekend and holiday responsibilities in a faith-based, MD-based hospital system.

Qualifications

• Degree in nursing (Associate or Baccalaureate).
• Baccalaureate degree in nursing preferred.
• Supervisory or Management experience (One year preferred).
• Two years’ work experience preferred in department-specific area.
• Current Maryland State nursing license.
• Certification in department-specific area within the first year of the position.
• Active American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

• Assure the delivery of quality department/clinical services per standards.
• Implement daily operations for their unit with just-in-time adjustments.
• Assist the Manager with department operations and budget accountability.
• Collaborate with physicians and health care team to ensure optimum patient care.
• Promote cohesive teams and interdisciplinary collaboration.
• Develop evidence-based standards of care and ensure adherence.
• Report significant events and communicate resolutions to management.
• Demonstrate customer service and positive employee relations.
• Be a role model, mentor, and resource for staff and peers.
• Execute duties including monitoring quality indicators and liaison with OR/bed management.
