Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Lead Performance Test Engineer to drive performance initiatives for enterprise and cloud-native apps. This hands-on role requires deep expertise in performance testing, automation, cloud platforms, observability, and resiliency.

You will lead design and execution of testing strategies, build automated frameworks, integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to improve scalability and readiness. Remote US role.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years hands-on experience in performance testing/engineering.
• Hands-on expertise with NeoLoad or a comparable tool including test design, workload modeling, execution, analysis, and reporting.
• Experience integrating automated performance tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD or similar).
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures (EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, RDS, S3, CloudWatch).
• Programming and scripting experience in Python, Java, SQL, and shell scripting for REST APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
• Experience diagnosing performance issues across application, database, infrastructure, network, and cloud layers using observability tools (Dynatrace, AppDynamics, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic Stack).
• Experience with containerized environments and orchestration platforms (Kubernetes, Docker, OpenShift, ECS, EKS).

Responsibilities

• Design and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, scalability, and capacity testing for enterprise apps and APIs.
• Build and maintain automated performance-testing frameworks (NeoLoad and custom solutions).
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines with performance thresholds and quality gates.
• Analyze application, database, infrastructure, network, and cloud performance to identify bottlenecks.
• Use AWS services and observability platforms to troubleshoot complex performance issues.
• Plan Chaos Engineering and resiliency-testing exercises for fault tolerance and readiness.
• Develop automation utilities using Python, Java, SQL, APIs, and scripting.
• Partner with stakeholders to define performance KPIs and improvement plans.
