Job summary

Cognizant is seeking a Lead Performance Test Engineer to lead performance engineering initiatives for enterprise and cloud-native applications. This hands-on role emphasizes performance testing, automation, observability, and resiliency.

You will collaborate with development, SRE, and DevOps teams to define KPIs, build automated quality gates, and optimize scalability across AWS and containerized environments. Remote-friendly US-based assignment.

Qualifications

• At least 10 years of hands-on performance testing/engineering for enterprise apps.
• Hands-on with NeoLoad or similar enterprise testing tools and automation.
• Experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI/CD or similar).
• Hands-on with AWS cloud services and cloud-native architectures.
• Programming/scripting in Python, Java, SQL, and shell scripting; REST APIs/microservices testing.
• Experience diagnosing performance issues with observability tools (Dynatrace, Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus, Elastic Stack).
• Experience in containerized environments (Kubernetes/Docker/OpenShift/ECS/EKS).

Responsibilities

• Design and execute performance, load, stress, endurance, and capacity testing strategies.
• Build and maintain automated performance-testing frameworks.
• Integrate performance testing into CI/CD pipelines with performance gates.
• Analyze multi-layer performance to identify bottlenecks and optimization plans.
• Use CloudWatch and observability stacks to troubleshoot performance issues.
• Plan Chaos Engineering and resiliency-testing to evaluate fault tolerance.
• Develop automation utilities in Python/Java/SQL to improve efficiency.
• Partner with stakeholders to define performance KPIs and capacity requirements.
