Job summary

ICANN is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to define and evolve the performance engineering strategy for mission-critical applications. You will design reusable testing frameworks, build workload models, and integrate tests into CI/CD pipelines to ensure performance and reliability before deployment.

The role spans performance analysis, optimization, and production observability, working with SRE, DevOps, QA, and product teams to meet NFRs, SLAs, and SLOs across cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in CS/SE; master preferred.
• Strong understanding of distributed systems and cloud-native architectures.
• Expert knowledge of performance testing methodologies (loads, stress, endurance, spike, scalability).
• Proficiency with JMeter, Gatling, k6, Locust.
• Experience with HTTP, REST, gRPC, WebSockets and messaging.
• Experience with Kubernetes, Docker and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure/GCP).
• CI/CD integration of performance tests (GitHub Actions, Jenkins, GitLab CI).
• Experience with observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana, Datadog).
• SQL tuning and database performance skills.
• Strong communication and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive performance engineering roadmap.
• Design, develop, and maintain performance testing frameworks.
• Create realistic workload models and CI/CD integration.
• Identify bottlenecks across app, API, DB, caching, and infra layers.
• Prototype and validate performance improvements with benchmarks.
