Job summary

ICANN is seeking a Senior Performance Engineer to define and evolve the performance strategy for mission-critical applications. You will work with software engineers, DevOps, SRE, PM, and QA to ensure systems meet performance, scalability, reliability, and resiliency objectives before production deployment.

You will develop testing strategies, load models, and benchmarking, while integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines and optimizing in Kubernetes and cloud-native environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related field; master preferred.
• Minimum eight years of software testing or performance engineering.
• Minimum five years designing and executing enterprise-scale performance testing.

Responsibilities

• Define and drive the organization’s performance engineering roadmap.
• Establish NFRs, SLAs, SLOs, and performance acceptance criteria with product teams.
• Develop performance testing strategies for products and releases.
• Identify bottlenecks and propose mitigations.
• Create reusable performance testing frameworks and automation.
• Build workload models simulating customer usage patterns.
• Develop load, stress, endurance, and capacity tests.
• Integrate performance tests into CI/CD pipelines.
• Analyze throughput, latency, resource utilization, concurrency, and stability.
• Profile applications to isolate CPU, memory, and I/O issues.
• Validate improvements through benchmarking.
• Evaluate performance in Kubernetes and cloud environments.
