Job summary

Parallel Systems, Inc. seeks a Senior Robotics Software Engineer to develop the perception and sensor fusion for autonomous, battery-electric rail vehicles. You will design geometry-based computer vision and robotics algorithms, fuse lidar, camera, IMU, and GPS data, and validate field performance around the clock in production.

You will work with ML, firmware, embedded platform, and systems engineers to bring sensor calibration, real-time fusion, and state estimation from theory to deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or higher in Robotics, CS, EE, or related field.
• 4+ years hands-on robotics or perception software experience.
• Strong geometry-based CV and robotics algorithm background; ML bonus.
• Proficiency in Rust and C/C++ for real-time systems.
• Experience with high-throughput, multi-modal sensor data fusion.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain real-time robotics software that ingests and fuses high-throughput, multi-modal sensor data from lidar, camera, IMU, GPS, and other sensors.
• Implement, validate, and test real-time sensor fusion code across simulation and real-world deployments.
• Perform sensor calibration (intrinsic, extrinsic, temporal) and apply linear algebra, 3D geometry, and optimization to state estimation.
• Design geometry-based computer vision and robotics algorithms for real-time perception; ML-based approaches a bonus.
• Evaluate sensor selection and system-level tradeoffs, and define test plans for 24/7 production.
• Collaborate with ML, firmware, embedded platform, and systems engineers to integrate perception into the autonomy stack.
