Job summary

Rivian is seeking a Perception Mapping Lead to drive mapping capabilities across consumer and robotaxi autonomy platforms. You will define the long-term mapping strategy and deliver essential perception components with potential team leadership responsibilities.

Ideal candidates have strong experience in perception systems, SLAM, ML, and real-time software within autonomous vehicle stacks, and can coordinate across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Qualifications

• Experience designing perception components for map generation and maintenance.
• Experience with HD/SD map representations within AV stacks.
• Strong background in software engineering and systems design.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate to define long-term mapping strategy for consumer and robotaxi platforms.
• Build, evaluate, deploy, and maintain core perception components for mapping infrastructure.
• Ensure robust integration and real-time performance of mapping software in safety-critical systems.
• Recruit, mentor, and manage contributors to support expanding scope (optional).
