Job summary

Rivian seeks a Tech Lead to own and drive mapping strategy for autonomous vehicles in California. You will architect and deliver multi-vehicle mapping pipelines, including high-definition maps and localization without GNSS, while shaping the end-to-end ML data flywheel and evaluation.

You’ll work across Autonomy to continuously improve capabilities and performance. The role requires leading cross-functional teams, strongest Python/C++ skills, and a track record shipping AV mapping at scale in

Qualifications

• BS, MS, or PhD in Computer Science, Robotics, Electrical Engineering, or related quantitative field.
• 7+ years building, shipping ML solutions and AV mapping at scale.
• Expertise defining and delivering AV mapping strategy and system ownership.
• Experience with sensor modalities including lidar and non-lidar mapping.
• Strong Python/C++ and modern perception pipelines knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Own and drive the mapping strategy end-to-end.
• Develop production-grade, scalable mapping pipelines for multi-vehicle setups.
• Define performance benchmarks and monitor system health.
• Collaborate with Autonomy to meet feature requirements.
• Lead cross-functional decisions on system trade-offs.
