Job summary

HRA/DEPT OF SOCIAL SERVICES in New York City seeks a Supervising Special Officer I (Sergeant) to oversee security at multiple facilities across the five boroughs. You will supervise contract guards, prepare schedules, and ensure safety for staff and clients.

Candidates must have a four-year high school diploma and at least one year in law enforcement, protection, or security, with Peace Officer designation and NYS training certification. Residency rules apply.

Qualifications

• Four-year high school diploma or equivalent approved by a state's department of education or recognized accrediting organization.
• Certification as a Peace Officer per NYS law.
• Residency requirements for NYC employment.

Responsibilities

• Ensure direction and guidance of supervision of physical safety of staff and customers across HRA locations.
• Prepare schedules; assign guards; instruct guards in duties and responsibilities.
• Oversee guards and evaluate performance; investigate security incidents and develop corrective actions.
