Job summary

BXDA seeks experienced and enthusiastic Special Officer to provide security, safety, and order. Under supervision, you will monitor security systems, screen personnel, and maintain access control in Bronx County facilities.

Candidates must be NYS Peace Officers, with a high school diploma, and have strong communication skills. Residency and training requirements apply, with opportunities for state training and public service loan forgiveness information.

Qualifications

• A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent.
• Individuals must be designated as Peace Officers by NYS CPL and meet training requirements.
• Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and strong communication abilities.

Responsibilities

• Screens employees and visitors.
• Operates, and monitors security equipment; reports maintenance needs.
• Gives routine information to visitors and directs them appropriately.
• Patrols assigned areas to maintain order and safeguard life and property.
• Make clock rounds; report hazards including fire safety.
• Arrests and issues summonses when appropriate; transports and documents custody.
• Responds to emergencies and assists with Emergency Action Plan.
• Provide first aid if certified and authorized; complete required paperwork.
• Maintain daily activity logs and records of entry/exit.
