Job summary

Knife River Northwest is seeking a Senior Design Engineer to lead complex precast/prestressed design efforts, mentor junior staff, and drive engineering standards. The role requires a PE license, strong leadership in technical discussions with customers and internal teams, and comprehensive knowledge of structural design and PCI codes.

You will act as a senior technical voice within KRPI, guiding projects through planning, calculations, and reviews, while improving tools, templates, and design

Qualifications

• B.S. in Civil or Structural Engineering required.
• Professional Engineer license required.
• Ability to lead technical discussions with customers, consultants, contractors, and internal teams.
• Advanced knowledge of structural engineering and precast/prestressed design.
• Experience with PCI standards and code compliance.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex precast/prestressed projects; review plans and prepare calculations/drawings.
• Apply advanced judgment on precast behavior, connections, load paths, and constructability.
• Serve as senior technical voice with Engineering leadership, PMs, drafting, production, and customers.
• Evaluate non-standard conditions and risks; recommend practical solutions.
• Perform senior quality reviews of drawings, calculations, submittals; provide final guidance.
