Job summary

Banner Engineering is seeking a Senior PCBA Process Engineer to lead and optimize PCBA manufacturing at our Brooklyn Park, MN site. You will guide SMT, COB and through‑hole assembly, drive process improvements and ensure robust design for manufacture across multiple products.

You'll collaborate with engineering, operations and supplier teams, mentor junior staff, and shape capital projects to enhance yield, cost and delivery while balancing short‑term needs with long‑term capability goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering or related field.
• 10+ years of PCBA manufacturing and SMT process engineering experience.
• Expert understanding of PCB assembly processes, equipment, materials, controls, tests, components, and failure mechanisms.
• Advanced project leadership and cross‑functional collaboration skills.
• Experience establishing manufacturing standards, process qualifications and control strategies.
• Proven Lean/Six Sigma and continuous improvement track record.
• Experience leading capital equipment projects from concept to production release.

Responsibilities

• Serve as senior technical authority for PCBA manufacturing across SMT, COB, through‑hole, soldering, depaneling, inspection, test, material handling and integrated systems.
• Lead resolution of complex PCBA defects, yield loss, equipment limits, supplier or material variation, and design‑for‑manufacturability concerns.
• Establish technical standards, process windows, design rules and control methods to improve consistency across products, shifts and sites.
• Provide senior leadership for new product and process introductions including DFM and validation for ramp.
• Lead roadmaps for technology and capabilities; evaluate manufacturing investments.
• Use data, experiments and technical judgment to identify systemic risks and prioritise improvements.
• Lead PCBA technical reviews and communicate recommendations, risks and impact clearly.
• Execute capital investments from proposal through testing and production readiness.
• Lead continuous improvement programs improving yield, throughput, cost and quality.
• Mentor engineers and technicians; strengthen process ownership and project execution.
• Represent PCBA process engineering in supplier, customer, and audit discussions.
