Job summary

Mary Free Bed Rehabilitation is seeking a Payroll Manager to oversee biweekly and monthly payroll and timekeeping. The role leads payroll staff, ensures accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local requirements, and partners with multiple departments to improve processes.

The position requires a Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent payroll experience, 5+ years in payroll, and strong knowledge of payroll taxes and reporting. Healthcare setting experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Accounting, Human Resources, or related field preferred; equivalent payroll experience may be considered.
• Five or more years of progressive payroll experience, including payroll processing, payroll tax, reconciliations, and timekeeping.
• Demonstrated supervisory or management experience with ability to lead, develop, and hold team members accountable.
• Experience managing or administering payroll and time management systems (setup, testing, improvements).
• Strong knowledge of payroll processes, wage and hour practices, payroll taxes, deductions and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Oversees biweekly and monthly payroll processing and timekeeping to ensure accuracy and compliance.
• Directs payroll staff, assigns priorities, and manages training and performance expectations.
• Reviews inputs (hours, bonuses, leave, etc.) and approves payroll data.
• Ensures payroll records are accurate and secure, including tax withholdings and deductions.
• Partners with HR, Benefits, Finance, IT, and vendors to improve payroll operations and resolve issues.
