Aston Carter is seeking a Payroll Tax Specialist in Saint Paul, MN for a contract role that focuses on multi-state payroll taxes and regulatory compliance. You will file returns and support audits while collaborating with the payroll team to ensure accuracy.

The role requires advanced Excel skills, in-house experience with payroll tax processes, and union experience. Hybrid work in Saint Paul is available with competitive hourly pay.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of multi-state payroll tax experience (manual processes, all in-house).
• 3+ years of high technical ability, Excel pivot tables, v-lookup, and macros.
• 1+ years of union experience.

Responsibilities

• Process and manage payroll taxes for employees across all 50 states.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local tax regulations.
• Prepare and file payroll tax returns and reports.
• Monitor and respond to daily changes in tax laws and regulations.
• Reconcile payroll tax accounts and resolve discrepancies.
• Collaborate with the payroll team to ensure accurate and timely payroll processing.
• Assist with audits and inquiries from tax authorities.
• Maintain accurate and organized payroll tax records.
• Ensure that computing, withholding, and deductions are done correctly.
• Complete weekly certified payroll and monthly utilization reports.
• Reconcile, calculate, and remit monthly union fringe benefits.
