Job summary

Intuit Inc. is seeking a senior Payroll Tax expert (SME) to own complex payroll tax issues end-to-end, including notices, corrections, amendments, and Pay & File.

You will lead the team’s resolution efforts, mentor junior staff, and ensure knowledge transfer through SOPs and KB updates. The candidate will independently handle the most challenging cases, drive process improvements, and collaborate with Corrections, Amendments, Pay & File, and Tax Notice teams to deliver complete resolutions.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of payroll tax experience with focus on tax defect resolution across multiple states.
• Expert knowledge of state and federal payroll tax notices; ability to draft penalty abatement requests and agency responses.
• Experience preparing and filing amended Federal (Form 941-X) and State payroll tax returns across multiple states with complex local requirements.

Responsibilities

• Resolve the most complex payroll tax notices in multi-quarter, multi-state scenarios from intake to closure.
• Prepare and file amended Federal and State payroll tax returns across 10+ states.
• Diagnose and resolve payroll tax errors across multiple periods and jurisdictions.
• Maintain high productivity with accurate corrections and QA of work.
• Coach and mentor junior staff; lead team huddles and knowledge sharing sessions.
• Author and review SOPs and KB articles; drive process improvements.
