Job summary

Addison Group in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking a Payroll Supervisor to lead day-to-day payroll operations for a workforce of more than 20,000 employees nationwide. The role requires a hands-on leader who can manage high-volume, multi-state payroll with accuracy and compliance.

You will coach and develop the payroll team, partner with HR, Finance, IT and vendors, oversee reconciliations and year-end tasks, and continuously identify opportunities to improve payroll processes in a fast-paced

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience.
• 5+ years of supervisory/management experience preferred.
• Strong multi-state payroll experience.
• Experience supporting hourly employees in a high-volume environment.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including PivotTables and XLOOKUP.

Responsibilities

• Oversee bi-weekly payroll for 20,000+ employees across multiple states.
• Lead, coach, train, and develop the payroll team while maintaining accountability and strong service levels.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations, including wage and hour requirements.
• Oversee payroll reconciliations, reporting, tax activities, and year-end processes.
• Support quarterly and year-end payroll tax reconciliations and filings, W-2s, bonuses, taxable fringe benefits, third-party sick pay, and related reporting.
• Serve as an escalation point for complex payroll issues and partner with HR, Finance, Operations, IT, HRIS, vendors, and government agencies.
• Maintain payroll procedures, controls, documentation, and workflows.
• Identify opportunities to improve payroll accuracy, efficiency, and processes.
• Take ownership of the payroll process and continue building strong operational practices.
