Job summary

The Newark Board of Education invites qualified candidates to apply for the Supervising Payroll Clerk position within the Office of Payroll for SY 2026-27. This role supervises payroll and payroll/personnel functions and ensures accurate processing of salaries and deductions.

Qualifications

• Three (3) years of experience in payroll processing or payroll and personnel work.
• Driver's license valid in New Jersey only if vehicle operation is necessary.

Responsibilities

• Supervises payroll records and staff, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
• Prepares regular, supplemental and overtime payrolls and handles deductions.
• Trains new employees and enforces payroll policies and procedures.
• Interacts with Department of Treasury and external agencies as needed.
• Monitors regulatory changes and updates payroll systems accordingly.
