Qualifications

• Associate's degree in business, accounting, finance, or related field required or experience may substitute
• Minimum of five years of experience in payroll administration
• Thorough knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations governing payroll procedures
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Word

Responsibilities

• Supervise and coordinate all aspects of the payroll process ensuring compliance with state and federal laws, district collective bargaining agreements, policies, and regulations
• Work closely with human resources to ensure employee information is correctly set up in the payroll system
• Creates, balances, and uploads biweekly and annual retirement reports for TRA and PERA
• Completes year-end payroll reporting functions including W2 statements ensuring accuracy and accountability
• Prepares and files quarterly state and federal payroll tax returns
• Resolves questions and concerns on payroll related matters from employees and outside agencies
• Calculates retro payments after contract settlements and coordinates with benefits staff for deductions
