Job summary

ESP Enterprises Inc. in Texas is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to own full-cycle payroll for a multi-state field workforce, ensuring accurate processing, timely payments, and compliance.

You will review timecards, manage state-specific rules, handle deductions, reimbursements, and 401(k) payroll activity, and support job costing and client billing across projects. Collaborating with Accounting, HR, and third-party providers, you will maintain audit-ready records and uphold data

Qualifications

• 4-5+ years of hands-on, full-cycle payroll processing experience.
• Multi-state payroll experience including withholding and unemployment tax setup across jurisdictions.
• Job costing experience — code and allocate payroll/labor hours by client or project for cost tracking and billing accuracy.
• Experience processing payroll for both hourly and salaried employees.
• Knowledge of overtime, payroll taxation, deductions, PTO, reimbursements and wage-and-hour requirements.
• Strong Excel, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage the full payroll cycle with minimal oversight.
• Attention to detail and ability to meet strict payroll deadlines.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Own end-to-end processing of payroll cycles for ESP's employees.
• Review timecards and follow up on missing or inaccurate data.
• Validate hours, overtime, holiday pay, allowances, reimbursements and deductions.
• Process off-cycle payments, corrections, and retroactive pay.
• Maintain payroll coding by client, project, department and location for billing.
• Support 401(k) payroll deductions and remittances.
• Ensure payroll tax filing accuracy and timeliness with third-party providers.
• Maintain audit-ready payroll documentation and protect confidential information.
• Prepare payroll reports for Accounting, HR, management and audits.
• Assist with payroll system implementations, conversions, and testing.
