Agile Occupational Medicine LLC is seeking a Payroll Specialist to own end-to-end payroll operations for a complex, multi-state workforce, with a strong emphasis on California wage and hour compliance. The role serves as the payroll subject matter expert and collaborates with HR, Finance, and operations.

Location at 3200 Bristol St., Costa Mesa, CA, is hybrid with at least two days onsite weekly. Starting salary range is $72,000–$80,000 annually, with responsibilities spanning audits, tax

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive payroll experience, preferably multi-state.
• Strong knowledge of California payroll and wage/hour requirements.
• Experience with Paylocity or similar HRIS/payroll platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills for data analysis and reconciliation.
• Experience with year-end processing, W-2s, and payroll audits.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute biweekly payroll across multiple states with CA focus.
• Serve as payroll SME and escalation point for complex matters.
• Perform pre-payroll audits of data, timecards, earnings, deductions, and taxes.
• Identify discrepancies and resolve payroll issues before submission.
• Maintain payroll calendars, deadlines, controls, and SOPs.
• Administer payroll tax filings, deposits, and notices; ensure compliance.
• Support audits and provide payroll data for close processes.
• Provide employee and manager support on payroll questions.
