Job summary

Moxie Pest Control is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our growing Payroll team. This role requires hands-on processing of high-volume, multi-state payroll, including California, using ADP Workforce Now (WFN).

The ideal candidate will audit payroll, research discrepancies, handle commissions and variable pay, and ensure accurate, on-time payroll processing while maintaining strict confidentiality.

Qualifications

• 3+ years of hands-on payroll processing experience.
• Multi-state payroll processing experience.
• Hands-on California payroll experience.
• Hands-on ADP Workforce Now (WFN) payroll processing experience.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll taxation.
• Experience with payroll deductions, garnishments, bonuses, commissions, and supplemental wages.
• Experience reviewing and auditing employee timekeeping data.

Responsibilities

• Process high-volume payroll accurately and on time.
• Process payroll across multiple states and FEINs/company codes.
• Perform pre-payroll and post-payroll audits to identify discrepancies.
• Review payroll registers, employee-level results, exception reports, and payroll variances.
• Process hires, terminations, transfers, compensation changes, deductions, bonuses, commissions, and other payroll transactions.
• Review timekeeping records for missing punches and discrepancies; resolve issues before deadlines.
• Process and audit regular wages, overtime, and other variable compensation.
• Research and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee pay issues; process corrections.
• Review deductions, garnishments, levies, and other payroll deductions.
• Assist with payroll reconciliations, quarter-end/year-end activities, and W-2 review.
• Maintain payroll documentation and audit support; assist with audits and system changes.
• Follow established payroll procedures and internal controls.
• Maintain confidentiality of employee compensation and payroll data.
