Job summary

Core MedStaff is seeking a Manager, Payroll to serve as the operational backbone for payroll across a high-volume workforce in the greater Los Angeles area.

You will oversee weekly and semi-monthly payroll for 250–1,000+ employees, ensuring accuracy, compliance with federal and California labor laws, and timely pay cycles. This role reports to the CFO and collaborates with Accounting, HR, and Operations.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of in-house payroll experience.
• Strong knowledge of payroll compliance and tax regulations.
• Experience managing payroll in a mid-to-large organization.
• Advanced Excel skills and strong attention to detail.
• Ability to work onsite.

Responsibilities

• Manage weekly and semi-monthly payroll for 250–1,000+ employees with accuracy and on time — every time.
• Review and validate payroll data including pay rates, overtime, bonuses, and deductions.
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and California labor laws.
• Oversee payroll tax filings, reconciliations, and year-end processes including W-2s.
• Audit and manage employee timekeeping and approvals with a sharp eye for discrepancies.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for payroll-related inquiries from staff and clinicians alike.
• Partner with Accounting, HR, and Operations to ensure data accuracy and cross-functional alignment.
• Support payroll systems, reporting, and continuous process improvement.
