Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Payroll and Benefits Manager to own the payroll and benefits programs across the company, including multi-state operations and multiple pay frequencies. The role is hands-on and supervisory, leading a team of administrators and coordinating with store Controllers and the CFO.

You will drive open enrollment, plan design, ACA compliance, and monthly reconciliations, while ensuring accurate payroll processing and strong internal controls across all markets and entities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent professional experience in accounting, HR or related field.
• 5+ years of payroll and benefits management with hands-on ownership.
• Multi-entity, multi-state payroll experience required.
• 2+ years supervising payroll and/or benefits staff.
• Knowledge of FLSA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, ACA reporting.
• Advanced Excel skills and large-volume data reconciliation.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the complete payroll cycle for 18 rooftops across multiple pay groups.
• Review payroll registers, pre-process audits and funding requests.
• Administer pay plans, commissions, bonuses and fringe benefits.
• Lead payroll tax compliance across FEINs and annual filings.
• Administer group health, welfare plans and open enrollment.
• Reconcile carrier invoices and enrollment against payroll deductions.
• Manage ACA, Form 5500, and stability period tracking.
• Lead HCM system administration for payroll, benefits and time modules.
