Job summary

Okta, Inc. is seeking a Senior Payroll Analyst to join the Americas Payroll team. You will own end-to-end multi-state US payroll operations for 5,000+ employees, ensuring accurate, compliant, and timely processing across jurisdictions.

You will drive automation, advise on equity and benefits, and collaborate with Stock Administration, Accounting, and People Operations to sustain a reliable payroll experience.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of progressive, end-to-end multi-state US payroll experience in a high-growth SaaS/tech environment.
• Deep knowledge of US labor laws, FLSA classifications, multi-state withholding, and payroll accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Own and execute complex bi-weekly multi-state US payroll cycles with accurate calculations for base salary, variable compensation, retro adjustments, and termination payouts.
• Process and reconcile equity-related transactions (RSUs, ESPP, NQSOs) and manage off-cycle payroll runs.
• Oversee deductions and garnishments (401(k), FSA/HSA, wage garnishments, taxable fringe benefits).
• Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations; manage multi-state tax setups and year-end W-2 reporting.
• Execute SOX-compliant pre- and post-payroll audits and collaborate with Finance to ensure controls.
• Identify automation opportunities; develop and maintain automated reporting/reconciliation models (Excel, Alteryx).
• Provide Tier-2 payroll support via ServiceNow and collaborate with People Ops, Total Rewards, HRBPs, and Corporate Accounting.
