Metropolitan Government of Nashville & Davidson County is seeking a Payroll Analyst 2 in the Finance Department, Payroll Division, to handle complex payroll processing for General Government, Metro Schools, and pension payrolls. The role requires strong payroll knowledge, communication, and organizational skills.

The position collaborates with Pension Benefits and Treasury, ensures compliance with applicable payroll taxes, and supports process improvements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, HR or related field.
• 3 years of professional-level payroll, accounting, or related experience.
• Knowledge of payroll laws and regulations is required.

Responsibilities

• Process payroll for General Government, Metro Nashville Public Schools, Pension Payrolls.
• Collaborate with Pension Benefits Division for monthly pension payroll.
• Review changes and pre-payroll data to ensure correct payments.
• Coordinate enrollment of pensioners in Direct Pay health insurance plan.
• Act as primary contact for retirees regarding payment discrepancies and tax forms.
• Work with payroll tax professionals and treasury to ensure timely funding of payroll and taxes.
• Develop and document payroll processes.
• Cross-train payroll staff to perform related functions.
• Provide reports to departments and Benefits as part of post-payroll process.
• Deliver excellent customer service to active employees, pensioners, departments and vendors.
