Job summary

Discovery Senior Living is seeking a Senior Accountant, Payroll to manage payroll accounting, reconciliations, and financial reporting for its large portfolio of communities and thousands of employees. You will ensure accurate GL postings, timely month-end close, and strong internal controls across 40+ states.

Reporting to the Shared Services Controller, this role collaborates with Payroll Operations and HR, uses Yardi 8 and Excel, and supports external audits as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field.
• 3+ years of progressive accounting experience with payroll focus in a multi-entity environment.
• Experience in senior living, healthcare, or hospitality with a large hourly workforce preferred.
• Proficiency in Yardi 8 or equivalent; Paychex experience preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills including reconciliation, pivot tables, and multi-entity data management.
• Maintain confidentiality of payroll data at all times.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post bi-weekly and off-cycle payroll journal entries in Yardi 8 for all DSL entities.
• Reconcile payroll clearing accounts, accrued wages, payroll taxes, and related balance sheet accounts.
• Lead payroll components of monthly close and prepare labor cost analyses.
• Ensure payroll entries comply with GAAP and DSL policies across 40+ states.
