Job summary

Storm2 is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join a payments infrastructure team building core financial systems that handle high-volume transactions with reliability and data integrity.

You will design and own backend services, work across payments, fraud, compliance, and risk, and mentor engineers in a remote-first, collaborative environment where ownership and architecture decisions matter for scale.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building and operating complex production software systems.
• Strong Python engineering experience in backend or platform environments.
• Deep knowledge of distributed systems, microservices, and event-driven architectures.
• Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures and algorithms.
• Experience solving problems that span multiple systems rather than a single codebase.
• Ability to make sound technical decisions while balancing business and engineering trade-offs.
• Comfortable operating in an environment with ownership, autonomy, and ambiguity.

Responsibilities

• Designing and owning core financial systems across payments, fraud, compliance, and account management.
• Building backend services that process high transaction volumes with a strong focus on reliability, performance, and data integrity.
• Architecting distributed systems and event-driven workflows across multiple product domains.
• Improving resilience, observability, and operational efficiency across a microservices platform.
• Leading technical discussions and influencing architectural direction.
• Working closely with product, operations, and compliance teams to translate business requirements into scalable technical solutions.
• Mentoring engineers and helping raise the engineering standard across the team.
