Job summary

AngelList is building the Nova Foundations banking and payments network for private markets. This role leads end-to-end money movement, KYC, and PII storage, with ownership from design to operations. The team handles large transfers and ensures correctness and auditability in a high-stakes domain.

We value engineers who can ship in a lean startup environment, with a hybrid in-office model and a SF-based hub. Compensation includes base salary, benefits, and equity.

Qualifications

• 5+ years building backend or full-stack systems.
• Experience with financial systems, payments, ledgers, or banking/KYC integrations.
• Strong data-modeling skills with relational databases.
• Comfort with Ruby on Rails or ability to ramp quickly.
• Startup environment experience and ability to ship quickly.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate core Foundations systems, including ledger and bank/payment integrations, KYC, and secure PII handling.
• Take problems from design through rollout and on-call operation.
• Model complex financial and identity domains in relational data and build service contracts and APIs.
• Build for correctness, auditability, security, and reliability; catch issues before incidents.
• Mentor other engineers and conduct thoughtful code reviews.
