Job summary

AngelList is seeking an Engineering Manager to lead Nova Foundations, the core money-movement and identity system. You will grow the team, shape the technical vision, and work closely with product and engineering to drive the roadmap.

Reporting to the Head of Nova Engineering, you will stay hands-on enough to unblock the team and ensure security, auditability, and reliability as you scale operations and launches.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of engineering management experience.
• Experience with fintech, payments, banking, ledgers, KYC or compliance systems.
• A track record of shipping and operating backend or platform systems where correctness and reliability are critical.
• Experience with Ruby on Rails and service-oriented systems, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Good startup judgment; comfortable with ambiguity and adding just enough process.

Responsibilities

• Own the results of Nova Foundations, including ledger, bank and payment integrations, KYC, and PII systems.
• Grow the team from ~4 engineers to 5-7 and help stand up two focused teams: money movement and risk/compliance.
• Collaborate with product managers and engineering teams to progress the roadmap.
• Set a clear technical direction with senior engineers.
• Maintain high standards for correctness, auditability, security, and reliability while shipping rapidly.
• Stay hands-on to unblock the team and provide technical context for sound tradeoffs.
