Job summary

Qualia is hiring for a senior payments-focused full-stack engineer to own and scale money-movement systems in a remote-friendly role based near Austin, TX. You’ll work on ACH/wire processing, fraud controls, and compliance-enabled architectures that touch lenders, title agents, and homebuyers.

You’ll contribute across frontend/backend layers, collaborate with Compliance, Risk, and Accounting, and mentor teammates while shipping frequently in a fast-paced, remote-first environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience as a strong full-stack web developer in production.
• Direct experience building or maintaining money-movement systems (banking/fintech/payments) preferred.
• Strong understanding of transactional integrity, idempotency, and failure-mode design in financial systems.
• Familiarity with payment rails, banking APIs, or financial compliance standards (NACHA, OFAC, PCI, SOC 2) is a plus.
• Architected large, high-stakes projects and mentored junior developers.
• Experience across multiple engineering teams and a strong product sense.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain systems that process ACH and wire transfers at scale (billions of dollars annually), including origination, settlement, reconciliation, and exception handling
• Build and harden payment-processing pipelines that integrate with banking partners, payment rails, and third-party financial APIs
• Implement controls for wire fraud prevention, transaction verification, and anomaly detection with security/compliance teams
• Improve and extend core web applications (frontend and backend) supporting escrow accounting and money movement
• Own architectural decisions for payments infrastructure: data integrity, idempotency, retry/failure handling, audit logging
• Partner with Compliance, Risk, and Accounting to meet regulatory/audit requirements (NACHA, wire fraud regs, SOC 2)
• Participate in on-call rotation for payment-critical systems
