Job summary

CXM Direct LLC is seeking a Senior Backend Engineer to own the connector layer and downstream payment flows. You will build a canonical adapter layer, move methods to server-to-server and embedded flows, and ensure reliable transaction status across the estate.

You will collaborate with the orchestration platform team to define behavior, expose observability, and extend integrations to new providers and entities across a high-volume payments environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of backend engineering experience with strong TS/Node.js skills.
• Production experience with payment systems including authorisation and reconciliation.
• Practical understanding of idempotency and asynchronous status handling.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and working with provider teams.

Responsibilities

• Build and own the connector and adapter layer for provider integrations.
• Migrate payment methods to server-to-server and embedded flows where possible.
• Own downstream of the orchestration layer: reconciliation and status handling.
• Ensure end-to-end reliability of transaction status and observability.
• Specify platform behavior: state machines, idempotency, routing and error handling.
• Support integration work for card programmes and extended entities.
• Extend integrations to new providers as configuration rather than builds.
• Collaborate with orchestration and systems teams; drive architecture decisions.
