Providence St. Mary Medical Center in Washington state is seeking a Senior Patient Services Representative to greet, interview, and register patients, collecting demographics and insurance information in a fast-paced clinic setting.

You will verify eligibility, discuss financial responsibilities, and explain forms, while supporting other front-desk tasks such as answering calls, filing, and training new hires as needed.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience in healthcare-related field, especially patient access, insurance eligibility verification/authorization, billing/electronic claims submission, or collection of accounts receivable.
  • Computer and/or data entry experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

  • Greet, interview, and register patients, obtaining demographics and insurance information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility and authorizations; collect payments as needed.
  • Explain forms and policies, obtain signatures, and document responses; support front-desk tasks.
  • Assist with filing, answering calls, and training new hires as needed.

Job description

Responsible for variety of tasks related to the greeting, interviewing and registration of patients. This includes but is not limited to, obtaining patient demographics, insurance information and verification, explanation of various medical forms and policies, obtaining signatures, discussions on financial responsibilities, collection of monies and initiation of the proper episode of care. Processes required information on all patients according to departmental and interdepartmental policies and procedures while adhering to the patient focused admissions process. Performs all other duties assigned such as filing keyboarding, answering telephone, etc. Is able to work effectively and calmly with frequent interruptions, in a rapid-paced environment. Accountable to obtain timely and accurate information. The Senior Patient Services Representative works independently while performing duties in all areas of the clinic office setting. This position may be responsible for training new hires.

Shift Details: Full-time, 40 hours weekly, Day shift

Required Qualifications:
  • 4 years of experience in a healthcare related field, specifically patient access, insurance eligibility verification/authorization, billing/electronic claims submission, or collection of accounts receivable.
  • Computer and/or data entry experience.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous hospital admitting experience.
  • Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the employee with the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform the work will be considered.
