Job summary

UPMC is seeking a Casual/Per Diem Patient Care Technician Senior to support nursing and patient care across hospital units. This role includes flexible 36 hours over a 6-week span with day, evening, and night shifts.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong clinical skills, be able to perform basic nursing assistant tasks, and participate in department projects and safety initiatives while maintaining patient safety and accurate documentation.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• 2 years healthcare experience or 1 year with a health sciences program and at least one clinical rotation, or a bachelor's in a health sciences field.
• Successful completion of the Patient Care Technician Senior program/credential.
• Basic arrhythmia training is expected.
• Complete required UPMC trainings including eRecord training.

Responsibilities

• Assist with patient care and daily living activities under RN direction.
• Support department projects and quality initiatives.
• Adhere to safety policies and document in the medical record.
• Transport patients within the hospital and assist with procedures.
• Maintain professionalism and effective communication with the health care team.
