Job summary

Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in Norfolk, VA is seeking a Senior Patient Access Representative to register patients in the Emergency Department and other registration areas. The role includes on-call rotation, mentoring staff, and serving as a super-user of the registration system, with opportunities for promotion to Team Coordinator.

Qualifications

• 2 years of Customer Service or Data Entry experience
• Experience in a healthcare environment
• Proficiency in keyboarding

Responsibilities

• Register patients for the Emergency Department and other registration areas
• Assist Team Coordinator and leadership with QA, reports, and audits
• Mentor and train staff; act as preceptor for department orientation
• Participate in interviews and meetings, and manage supply levels
• Support on-call rotations during weekdays and weekends

Responsibilities include registering patients for the Emergency Department, and/or various registration areas of the hospital. The Patient Access Team Leader also assists the Team Coordinator and department leadership by serving as registration system super-user, taking on-call rotation during the week and on the weekends, participating in the interviewing process, preparing and reviewing reports, performing QA audits, mentoring and training staff, managing department supply levels, and participating in meetings and workgroups. The Team Lead is required to meet the written requirements and competency to serve as a preceptor and to provide department orientation.
