Job summary

Kaiser Permanente seeks a Pathology professional to perform high complexity tests, receive and gross tissue samples, and assist in surgical procedures as needed. The ideal candidate has a Pathologist's Assistant Certificate, a relevant bachelor's degree, and experience in medical laboratory settings.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in medical lab science or equivalent required; minimum two years in medical technology or health care field, or five years if no degree.
• Pathologist's Assistant Certificate required at hire.
• Preferred: one year of pathology experience and professional certification in phlebotomy.

Responsibilities

• Perform high complexity tests in pathology independently to support treatment and diagnosis.
• Receive and gross tissue samples and assist in Mohs surgeries when needed.
• Prepare bodies for autopsies and support autopsy procedures as appropriate.
• Ensure specimen handling, processing, and test results records are maintained accurately.
• Develop and review testing processes to assure valid final results; troubleshoot issues.
• Coordinate with medical lab services to improve quality and efficiency.
