Job summary

Mondelēz International seeks a Sr. Patent Counsel to join our in-house IP team in East Hanover, NJ or Chicago, IL. This hybrid role protects and grows a global patent portfolio across Oreo, Ritz, Milka, Cadbury and more, partnering with R&D and marketing to identify patentable innovations.

Ideal candidates will combine in-house and law-firm experience with strong analytical and cross-functional leadership skills, supporting brand-centric IP initiatives.

Qualifications

• J.D. from an accredited law school is required.
• Registered to practice before the USPTO.
• Active member in good standing of at least one U.S. state bar.
• Minimum 4 years of patent preparation and prosecution experience in a law firm.
• Minimum 2 years in-house patent counsel experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide patent preparation and prosecution for U.S. applications across core snacking tech areas.
• Manage global patent prosecution with foreign counsel (EP, CN, IN, BR, MX, JP, etc.).
• Lead invention harvesting sessions with R&D, marketing, and packaging teams.
• Support IP due diligence for M&A, licensing, and partnerships.
• Develop and implement design protection strategies for packaging and product shapes.
