Job summary

The Colorado Department of Law, Civil Litigation and Employment Law Section, seeks an experienced litigation paralegal to join its newly formed Employment Law Defense Unit. You will manage case files, support discovery, prepare filings, and coordinate with clients and courts across complex employment matters involving state agencies and public employees.

You will work closely with unit attorneys, help build processes, and contribute to a collaborative public-service culture.

Qualifications

• Requires a paralegal certificate and one year of paralegal experience.
• Substitutions allowed: two years of paralegal experience or a JD from an accredited law school.
• Preferred: 3+ years of paralegal experience in litigation support.

Responsibilities

• Open, maintain, and close case files and manage pleadings, discovery, and email communications.
• Prepare filings and e-file documents in state and federal courts; format and proofread materials.
• Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and attorneys; assist with depositions, hearings, and trials.
• Develop intake procedures, templates, and workflows to improve litigation efficiency.
• Support discovery, document review, production, and e-discovery platforms.
