Job summary

The Colorado Department of Law seeks a seasoned Senior Paralegal to join its newly formed Employment Law Defense Unit within Civil Litigation. You will manage deadlines, support discovery and document production, prepare filings, and coordinate with clients and court personnel while assisting attorneys across all litigation stages.

Ideal candidates have a paralegal certificate (ABA approved) and at least one year of experience; substitutions include a JD or two years of paralegal work.

Qualifications

• Paralegal certificate obtained through an ABA approved program or accredited institution.
• One year of paralegal experience required.
• Two years of paralegal experience substituting for the certificate, or a JD from an accredited law school, may substitute for the certificate.

Responsibilities

• Open, maintain, and close case files; organize pleadings, discovery, and attorney work product.
• Track deadlines and calendar milestones; support multiple attorneys on a heavy docket.
• Draft pleadings, motions, briefs, notices, subpoenas, and other litigation documents under attorney supervision.
• Coordinate with clients, court personnel, and other staff to move matters forward.
• Assist with depositions, hearings, and trials; prepare exhibits and trial notebooks.
• Develop intake procedures and templates to improve litigation efficiency.
