Job summary

WEG Electric Corp. in Duluth, GA is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager – Panel Engineering (UL 508A) to lead the design and compliance of UL 508A listed panels across product lines.

You will manage a team of engineers and drafters, ensuring on-time, on-quality design releases and effective collaboration with Sales, OEM, and Quality. You will guide the engineering group through UL field inspections, change control, and continuous improvement initiatives, while mentoring the team and maintaining

Qualifications

• 10+ years in electrical/panel design engineering, including UL 508A panel construction.
• 5+ years in a supervisory or engineering leadership role.
• Working knowledge of UL 508A, SCCR, enclosure ratings, and labeling requirements.
• Familiarity with NEC/NFPA 70, NEMA, and IEC standards relevant to industrial control panels.
• Proficiency with CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical or EPLAN and PLM/ERP documentation systems.
• Knowledge of PLCs, VFDs, low-voltage soft starts, and industrial control devices.
• Experience with engineering change control and drawing revision management.
• Understanding of Lean or Six Sigma and project management fundamentals.
• Strong leadership, customer focus, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and engineering function for UL 508A listed panels across product lines.
• Ensure compliance with UL 508A and related standards; manage file maintenance and UL inspections.
• Review and approve drawings, BOMs, wiring diagrams, and control schematics for compliance.
• Recruit, hire, train, and develop panel design engineers and drafters; build leadership and succession pipelines.
• Oversee workload balancing, project assignments, and resource allocation for panel engineering.
• Partner with Sales and OEM teams to support engineered-to-order panel designs.
• Own design change control, documentation standards, and PLM/ERP processes.
• Drive continuous improvement to reduce cycle time, rework, and field issues.
• Represent Engineering in customer reviews and internal planning sessions.
