Job summary

Prime Controls, L.P. is seeking a Senior Panel Designer to lead complex panel design projects across industries. You will create and update panel drawings, PLC module layouts, and perform power/heat calculations, mentoring junior designers and ensuring adherence to standards.

The role requires 10+ years in design/drafting, 5+ years with AutoCAD Electrical and NEC/UL 508A/698A, and strong communication to coordinate with project teams remotely or on-site.

Qualifications

• 2-year technical associate degree.
• 10+ years’ experience as a designer/drafter.
• 5+ years’ experience in AutoCAD Electrical.
• 5+ years’ experience with NEC & UL 508A/698A.
• Strong understanding of industrial control panel design practices and electrical drafting standards.
• Proficiency with MS Office Applications.
• Ability to interpret P&IDs, electrical schematics, network architectures, and customer specifications.
• Attention to detail with focus on quality and consistency.
• Advanced knowledge of drafting fundamentals and EPLAN Pro Panel design.

Responsibilities

• Lead complex panel design efforts for large scale control systems.
• Read customer diagrams and coordinate objectives with project team.
• Provide guidance to designers and drafter teams.
• Develop panel layout, detail drawings, and PLC module drawings.
• Perform panel power/heat calculations and template standardization.
• Review drawings for accuracy and adherence to standards.
• Support estimation, planning, and engineering coordination.
• Advance AutoCAD Electrical and EPLAN workflows and standards.
