Job summary

The Keystone Distinction Group in DuPage County, IL, seeks a Lead Packaging Maintenance Mechanic to safeguard high-speed packaging lines on-site. The role advances maintenance programs including a CMMS rollout and involves mentoring junior technicians.

You will diagnose mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic faults, rebuild machinery, and work with operations and engineering on improvement projects. Strong troubleshooting and leadership are essential.

Qualifications

• 5–10+ years in high-speed food packaging, co-packing, or food manufacturing.
• Strong electrical troubleshooting ability; no full electrician credentials required.
• Experience maintaining and rebuilding packaging machinery such as baggers, form-fill-seal equipment, and sealers.
• Familiarity with common packaging and weighing brands is a plus.
• CMMS experience preferred.
• High school diploma or GED required; AAS or certs preferred.
• Willing and able to coach less experienced mechanics.
• Self-sufficient and comfortable tackling tough floor problems.

Responsibilities

• Keep high-speed packaging and processing equipment running across a large, multi-line plant.
• Rebuild and refurbish machinery to like-new condition during planned or emergency downtime.
• Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults on baggers, sealers, scales, and supporting equipment.
• Handle electrical troubleshooting and repairs as part of daily work.
• Mentor junior technicians and share knowledge.
• Complete preventive maintenance tasks and log work in the CMMS.
• Collaborate with operations and engineering on improvement projects.
