Job summary
MDS Staffing seeks a Lead Packaging Maintenance Mechanic for a high-speed food production facility in DuPage County, IL. This on-site role focuses on keeping multi-line packaging and processing equipment running and extending machine life through rebuilds.
You will diagnose and repair mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults, mentor junior technicians, and log preventive maintenance in the CMMS while collaborating with operations and engineering on improvements.
Qualifications
- 5–10+ years of maintenance experience in high-speed food packaging
- Strong electrical troubleshooting ability (no full electrician credentials required)
- Experience maintaining and rebuilding packaging machinery (baggers, form-fill-seal, sealers)
- Willing to coach junior technicians
Responsibilities
- Keep high-speed packaging and processing equipment running across a large, multi-line plant
- Rebuild and refurbish machinery to like-new condition during planned and emergency downtime
- Diagnose mechanical, pneumatic, and electrical faults on baggers, sealers, scales, and supporting equipment
- Handle electrical troubleshooting and repairs on the lines daily
- Teach and mentor junior technicians
- Complete preventive maintenance tasks and log work in the CMMS
- Collaborate with operations and engineering on improvement projects
