Job summary

The Institute of Packaging Professionals is seeking a Senior Packaging Engineer in Stamford, CT to lead packaging programs across product lines. You will act as a technical expert, mentor co-ops and entry level engineers, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver safe and appealing packaging designs.

You will develop test methods, lead lab trials, and guide project teams through timelines and budgets, ensuring quality and supply continuity while advancing packaging technology.

Qualifications

• Packaging engineering expertise across packaging programs and materials.
• Strong technical leadership and mentorship to juniors.
• Ability to solve moderately complex technical problems with guidance as needed.
• Ability to manage projects with timelines and budgets.

Responsibilities

• Develops and designs new packaging for safe, convenient transport of products.
• Evaluates packaging methods and materials for quality and safety standards.
• Creates engineering drawings and specs with suppliers for materials and design.
• Coordinates lab tests and plant trials to assess feasibility.
• Provides technical support to ensure package performance and continuity of supply.
• Oversees exterior package design for proper product identification and appeal.
• Executes projects on time and on budget with cross-functional partners.
• Acts as a technical mentor to interns and junior engineers.
