Job summary

National Union Fire Insurance Company of Pittsburgh, Pa. is seeking an actuarial professional to support the centralized reserving team, focusing on reserve reviews, quarter close and year-end deliverables for Private Client Select.

You will collaborate with Pricing, Underwriting and Claims to analyze loss trends, perform trend studies, and mentor junior staff while advancing reserving best practices and actuarial transformation.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or a related field.
• 3+ years of P&C actuarial experience, with reserving experience strongly preferred.
• ACAS credential or near-ACAS completion.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical thinking skills.
• Willingness to learn new programming languages, technologies, and tools as needed.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Experience with VBA, SQL, Snowflake, or other programming languages strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform and communicate the Private Client Select reserve review.
• Complete trend studies and collaborate with Pricing Actuaries and Underwriting to evaluate emerging loss experience.
• Analyze loss trends and claims emergence to assess reserve adequacy and identify key drivers of change.
• Collaborate with Claims and Underwriting to review large losses on a monthly basis.
• Provide actuarial support for quarterly closing activities and year-end financial reporting.
• Support the Global AvE process.
• Partner with other actuaries to implement reserving best practices and analytical methodologies.
• Work effectively as part of a team and mentor any junior staff to support financial, strategic, and operational objectives.
• Collaborate with Data and Technology teams to drive process improvements and support actuarial transformation initiatives.
• Perform ad hoc analyses and other duties as required.
