Job summary

RMS Energy Co, LLC in Kentucky seeks a Lead P&C Field Technician to lead testing, maintenance, and troubleshooting of protection and control (P&C) systems in high-voltage substations across the country. You’ll work on complex relay schemes, pilot channel equipment, and SCADA integration, contributing to power system reliability.

Responsibilities include commissioning substations, interpreting wiring diagrams, planning test activities, mentoring junior technicians, and ensuring safety protocols.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Ability to travel frequently (minimum 80%) with overnight stays as needed.
• Background check and pre-employment drug tests required.

Responsibilities

• Test and maintain protective relays (electromechanical, solid-state, and microprocessor) and verify all trip, alarm, and metering functions.
• Commission new substations and troubleshoot P&C systems, including pilot channel equipment like power line carrier, fiber optics, line traps, and CVTs.
• Read and interpret wiring diagrams and apply testing procedures to various substation equipment.
• Plan and execute test activities independently while adhering to customer timelines and safety protocols.
• Support field service personnel with technical tasks and mentoring as needed.
• Communicate effectively with customers, field teams, and internal operations.
