Job summary

Guidehouse is seeking a senior healthcare coder to lead complex documentation and coding activities in a dynamic environment. You will analyze patient records, discuss code assignments, and guide ERR-related education, compliance, and process improvements.

Qualifications

• University degree required; 5+ years of relevant experience; substitutions allowed.
• Must hold RHIA, RHIT, CCS, or CPC certification.
• Senior-level outpatient coding experience including outpatient/inpatient charts, E/M charging, infusion charging, data management, coder audit and education experience.
• Credential maintenance required throughout employment.
• Minimum of two years of people leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist coders and documentation staff and the Internal Revenue Integrity team with complex patient care cases by analyzing documentation and discussing correct code assignment.
• Review medical records flagged via SMART software for patterns of coding errors and opportunities for coder and/or clinical education.
• Serve as a technical expert/resource for department management, staff, physicians, administrators, and external customers on accurate coding and documentation standards and regulatory requirements.
• Perform other duties as assigned by management.
