Responsibilities

• Assists coders, compliant documentation management staff, and the Internal Revenue Integrity team with complex patient care cases by analyzing documentation and discussing correct code assignment.
• Reviews medical records flagged through the SMART software for patterns of coding errors and opportunities for coder and clinical education.
• Serves as a technical expert/resource for department manager, staff, physicians, administrative, and external customers to provide information or clarification on accurate and ethical coding and documentation standards, guidelines and regulatory requirements.
• Performs other duties as assigned by management.
