Medical Center SE Texas Port Arthur in Port Arthur, TX seeks an Outpatient Coding Supervisor to lead the coding staff in daily operations, ensuring accurate diagnosis and procedure coding for outpatient, ED, and ancillary services, with focus on timeliness and compliance.
Under a Coding Manager, you will train staff, monitor performance, review documentation with physicians, and ensure documentation supports billing holds, while maintaining quality assurance and regulatory adherence.
Under the general direction of the Coding Manager, the Outpatient Coding Supervisor oversees the Coding Staff in daily operations to ensure accurate, timely, and compliant assignment of diagnosis and procedure codes for outpatient, emergency department, and ancillary services. This position provides leadership, training, quality assurance, and performance management for coding staff while ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state, payer, and accreditation requirements.
Other duties include being responsible for assigning diagnostic and procedure codes based upon physician documentation, communicating with physicians to ensure complete and accurate documentation, maintaining the bill hold within a designated amount and/or time frame, supervising the work of the coders and CDI staff and abstracting designated information from the medical record for historical and reporting purposes.
