Job summary

Connexion Systems & Engineering Inc. is seeking an experienced Senior Optical/Mechanical Designer to join small teams on fast-paced sensor-system projects, from concept through prototype testing.

The role includes optics, electronics, thermal and mechanical integration with a focus on fabrication-friendly designs and tight tolerances. Hybrid work requires 3–4 days in the office near Bedford, MA, with travel as needed.

Qualifications

• 10+ years experience in Mechanical Design.
• Experience with optical/mechanical subsystems and components.
• Design, analysis and documentation of EO/IR systems.
• Familiarity with fabrication techniques (machining, sheet metal).
• Familiarity with thermal and structural analysis.

Responsibilities

• Develop complex designs for imaging systems, thermal packaging, materials, and mechanisms.
• Work with various platforms (vehicles, aircraft, ships, spacecraft).
• Model mechanical enclosures and optical assemblies with mounting/alignment considerations; perform tolerance analysis and environmental testing.
