Job summary

Crestron Electronics Inc. seeks a Senior Opto-Mechanical Engineer to design, validate, and optimize precision optical-mechanical and camera systems. You will work with cross-functional teams to ensure performance, reliability, and manufacturability across the product lifecycle.

The role requires strong CAD skills (CREO), tolerance analysis, and experience with optical simulations, thermal effects, and DFA/DFM practices. Hybrid onsite presence in Rockleigh, NJ is required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering required.
• Master's in Mechanical Science preferred.
• 6–8 years opto-mechanical design experience in relevant industries (imaging/photonic/aerospace).
• 5–7 years experience with optical system fundamentals (lenses, sensors, illumination).
• 5–7 years experience with precision tolerancing and alignment techniques.
• 5–7 years experience with materials and thermal effects in optical systems.
• Experience with CAD engineering design; CREO preferred.
• Onsite at Crestron Volvo drive campus in Rockleigh, NJ (hybrid).

Responsibilities

• Design and develop opto-mechanical assemblies with alignment to optical performance, mechanical integrity, and manufacturability.
• Support testing, prototype builds, and validation of opto-mechanical systems; develop test plans and analyze results.
• Collaborate with suppliers and manufacturing on fabrication, coatings, and DFA/DFM improvements.
• Troubleshoot performance issues; perform root cause analysis and corrective design actions.
• Create 3D CAD models and 2D drawings with GD&T; participate in design reviews.
• Perform optical simulations and thermal/structural analyses to optimize performance.
